Welcome, everyone!

Let’s talk about building a good LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn is the largest professional networking platform where the majority of the people on it are decision makers. So, this platform is where you want to be to land your next career or get new customer leads for your business. Think of LinkedIn as your personal sales page.

  1. You need a strong profile to give you visibility. Use a good lit picture looking directly at the camera, from the waist and elbow up. No selfies.
  2. The Headline that you use needs to grab the attention of the reader. It has to contain keywords or keyword phrases that others including recruiters use to search you. I would highly suggest incorporating your specialty in it.
  3. In the About section, organize and share your skills and expertise to tell a story about you. Start with what you are most passionate about. Include a paragraph of your most greatest accomplishments. Paragraphs must be no longer than 2-3 sentences. At the end of it include your expertise in keywords phrases.
  4. The Experience section is a better way to share your career story. Use 2-3 sentences explaining your greatest accomplishments and results.
  5. In the Education section, you can add any special training or certifications that relate to your industry. You should add any organization that you belonged to or volunteer work you have done.
  6. The Skills & Endorsements section will only display your top 3 skills so ensure you list your skills by priority. Focus on the skills that you want to be known for.
  7. In the Recommendations section, gather statements by another person who is also a LinkedIn member or a co-worker and write what they had to say about working with you. I would advise to get as many recommendations as you can from individuals in leadership positions.

Always try to make the profile as personalized as possible. Follow up with recruiters, and even if you don’t get the job, ask what you may change or do in the future to increase your chances of getting hired. It’s important to continue making changes along the way!
